Standard & Poor’s 500 Index futures expiring in March fell 0.2 percent to 1,227.20.

Index changes: AGL Resources Inc. (AGL) , BorgWarner Inc. (BWA) , Perrigo Co. (PRGO) and Dollar Tree Inc. (DLTR) were picked to join the Standard & Poor’s 500 Index, according to a statement from S&P.

They will replace Nicor Inc. (GAS) , AK Steel Holding Corp. (AKS) , MEMC Electronic Materials Inc. (WFR) and Monster Worldwide Inc. (MWW) , according to the statement on S&P’s website.

Altera Corp. (ALTR) slipped 4.7 percent to $33.82. The maker of programmable semiconductors cut its fourth-quarter revenue forecast, saying sales will be 13 percent to 16 percent lower than the third quarter. The company had projected a decline of no more than 11 percent.

Cooper Companies Inc. (COO US) jumped 6.6 percent to $62.02. The maker of contact lenses forecast fiscal year 2012 earnings of at least $4.80 a share, above the average analyst estimate of $4.65 in a Bloomberg survey.

Esterline Technologies Corp. (ESL) slumped 2.5 percent to $49.81. The aerospace and defense parts supplier forecast fiscal year 2012 revenue of no more than $2.1 billion, missing the average analyst estimate of $2.13 billion in a Bloomberg survey.

Flow International Corp. (FLOW) rallied 30 percent to $3.15. The maker of Dynamic high-pressure water jets for cutting industrial materials reported second-quarter profit that beat analyst estimates.

Texas Instruments Inc. (TXN) retreated 6.3 percent to $28.03. The second-largest U.S. chipmaker gave a fourth-quarter sales forecast that fell short of analysts’ estimates, citing weaker demand for electronics components. Revenue will be $3.19 billion to $3.33 billion, while analysts on average had estimated sales of $3.41 billion, according to a Bloomberg survey.
