Standard & Poor’s 500 Index futures expiring in March fell less than 0.1 percent to 1,310.7.

CSX Corp. (CSX) slumped 2.2 percent to $22.20. The biggest eastern-U.S. railroad reported fourth-quarter profit of 43 cents a share, missing the average analyst estimate by 1 cent as fuel costs jumped.

InterDigital Inc. (IDCC) (IDCC US) sank 16 percent to $37.15. The King of Prussia, Pennsylvania-based owner of wireless-technology patents said it concluded a strategic review of options without a sale.

Polycom Inc. (PLCM) rallied 10 percent to $20.29. The largest independent maker of videoconference systems reported fourth-quarter earnings excluding some items of 41 cents a share, exceeding the 29-cent average estimate by analysts.

Texas Instruments Inc. (TXN) gained 3.2 percent to $34.25. The world’s largest maker of analog chips reported fourth-quarter sales and profit that topped analysts’ estimates, signaling that the market for electronic components is pulling out of a slump.

VMware Inc. (VMW) jumped 5.1 percent to $90.39. The biggest maker of software that lets computers run multiple operating systems reported sales and profit that topped estimates as corporations bought more programs to make servers more efficient.

Western Digital Corp. (WDC) climbed 4.3 percent to $36.20. The U.S. maker of disk drives and networking products reported second-quarter revenue of $2 billion, surpassing the average analyst estimate of $1.84 billion.
